Sad News

9 08 2011

Evening everyone. Just wanted to let you know that at the end of the month, this blog will be no longer. I used to have a lot to talk about, and time to talk about it, but my life isn’t giving me the time I feel I need to be able to continue the site.

I want to thank everyone that has supported it and followed it over the last year and a half. It will be sad to see it go, but I have move forward.

God Bless…

Tom

Erasing Hell

17 07 2011

Good afternoon readers! Wow! It has been a long time since I have sat down an actually written a blog post. I will be honest. It was partially due to a vacation that I went on, and partially due to laziness. I apologize.

Well I am going to start reading and blogging about Francis Chan’s new book Erasing Hell. I have enjoyed all of his books so far, so I am really excited to read this one.

Until then readers, God Bless!

Facebook Fan Page Contest!

28 05 2011

Good morning everyone! With summer approaching I thought that it would be fun to do a little contest. As some of you know, I have a Facebook Fan Page where I update you when I post a new blog. I have had a decent response to that, but I would really like to see it grow. I really would like to see this blog grow as well.

I am still looking for guest writers. So if you are interested in writing for this blog fill the Contact Me form out, and we can talk more through that.

So on with the contest! This contest is going to last from June 1st 12:01 am though June 30th at 11:59:59. Right now I have 97 fans on Facebook. I would like to reach 200 by the end of June.

At the end of June, if it is at 200 Fans, at random, I will pick a fan and they will get a iTunes gift card sent to them. That is all you need to do.. If you aren’t a fan already, join up by clicking on the Facebook icon on this blog. If you are already a fan, suggest the page to as many people as you can!

I do want to thank everybody that does read this blog! I have had some cool experiences with this blog and I hope you have too.

Until next time readers, GOD BLESS!

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Magazine Challenge

21 02 2011

Good morning readers! Today we are going to be featuring a blog post from Brian Cromer. Brian is a friend of mine and also the Student Pastor atNorthChurch.tv. His Blog is BrianCromer.com.

(This blog post was originally posted on February 18,2009 )

I have subscribed to Sports Illustrated for years. As a subscriber to Sports Illustrated, the annual Swimsuit Edition (first published in 1964) gets sent to my house every February.

Here’s the cool part…

I have not seen one picture or one article from the Swimsuit Edition in years. Every year my incredible wife gets that particular issue, rolls her eyes at the super models who are not wearing their swimsuits, and immediately throws the issue in the garbage.

My 2011 issue came on Wednesday. It went in the trash on Wednesday and I never knew it came to the house.

I love that she does this for me. The raw, honest truth is that I probably do not have the strength to do it myself. Granted, I might throw it away but not without first taking a peek. (I care here you thinking “but you’re a minister!” Yeah, you are right, I am an honest and real minister.) I cherish the fact that my wife cares about my purity enough to help me succeed. She gets it. She makes me a better person. She makes me a better follower of Jesus.

Some people might think “who cares?” or “what’s the big deal?”

Here the truth…

I know I am not missing anything. My eyes have better things to look at. I have better thoughts to think about. I got a hottie that I am madly in love with and who loves me back. Who needs the Swimsuit Edition? I know I don’t.

Here’s the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Challenge…

Follow my wife’s lead. If you get the Swimsuit Edition, throw it away. If your husband/son/brother/friend gets the Swimsuit Edition, take the initiative and throw it away for him (like me, he probably doesn’t have the strength to do it himself).

You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” – Jesus in Matthew 5:27-29 (NIV)

Look Who’s Talking

13 01 2011

Good evening everyone! As usual, I hope everyone is doing well. I was thinking about something today that I wanted to share with all of you.

I want to give my readers the opportunity to guest write for my blog.

There are a few stipulations though. I will list them below.

1) The contents of the blog post have to be original. This means you can’t copy and paste, or feature your blog post on your own blog. I, of course, will give you due credit, and link it back to your website, but this has to be original.

2) The content of the post has to be tied into something Christian. This is a Christian blog. I want to keep it that way.

3) If you quote or use any other sources other than your own, you must include those sources.

———–

I will leave this invitation open for as long as people want to write for this blog.

Contact me through Contact Me Section of this blog.

I can’t wait to read what you write.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Feature Friday— Where Change Takes Place

12 03 2010

Good morning readers! Today is Feature Friday! There is a blog that I read almost everyday, and really enjoy it. It is written by Pastor Mike Farra of North Point Christian Church. Here is the link to his blog. Click here. He is the pastor at the church my wife grew up in. The following post is from Feb. 28, 2010.

Where change takes place

this is a good way to start today…

i saw that the kingdom must be interior before it can be exterior…that it is a kingdom of ideas and not one of brute force… that his rule is over hearts, not over places… that his victories must be inward before they can be outward…that he seeks to control spirits rather than bodies…that no triumph could satisfy him but a triumph that gains the heart…that in short, where god really reigns, the surrender must be in the interior of the convicted free man and not merely in the outward surrender of the conquered slave.   – hannah whitall smith

how’s that for truth?

—–

Wow.. What a powerful quote. Go check out Mike’s blog for more awesome posts like these.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Tech. Tuesday! Social Networking for Christians

2 03 2010

Hello again readers. Today is a beautiful day! It is Tech. Tuesday, and we will be looking a Social Networking for Christians.

Facebook, by far is considered one of the biggest social networking websites out there. It boasts the following statistics on its’ site.

  • More than 400 million active users
  • 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day
  • More than 35 million users update their status each day
  • More than 60 million status updates posted each day
  • More than 3 billion photos uploaded to the site each month
  • More than 5 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) shared each week
  • More than 3.5 million events created each month
  • More than 3 million active Pages on Facebook
  • More than 1.5 million local businesses have active Pages on Facebook
  • More than 20 million people become fans of Pages each day
  • Pages have created more than 5.3 billion fans

Myspace is another social networking website as well that boasts similar numbers.

Now you may have seen the controversy surrounding both these websites. They include stories such as missing teenagers, sexual predators, etc. So how do we keep kids safe?

  1. Privacy Controls are the biggest thing
  2. Monitor Their Activity
  3. I suggest Christian alternatives

Below are a view ideas of Christian alternatives. Now I know they aren’t as popular as the above mentioned, but they are cool.

Tangle is an awesome Christian website. It combines the ideas of Youtube, Facebook and Myspace. It also gives a little more than that. He is some information I found on their site.

The vision of tangle is to be a place where members can come together to connect, share, and grow together in faith and life. How can users do this? tangle users can connect with each other by creating and joining group pages for their churches, bands, ministries and shared interests. tangle users can share their lives, thoughts, and passions through videos, photos, and blogs. Finally, tangle users can use the website’s unique tools such as the Online Bible and the Prayer Wall to grow in faith in Christ while being in fellowship with Christians from all over the world.

Shoutlife is another great Christian oriented alternative to Facebook or Myspace. Here is some information I found on their site.

ShoutLife.com is a free community / social networking website that offers customized profiles with unlimited photos, networks, events, private/instant messaging, blogging and more. We are unique in that our community is safe and clean, yet is still feature rich. We focus on creating and promoting a fun and positive environment. At ShoutLife.com, you can connect with your friends and meet new people as well as amazing music artists, authors, comedians, organizations and more.

So readers, what are your thoughts? Are these websites a good idea?

Until next time readers, God Bless!

* I and this blog do not get paid to share this with you.

Feature Friday– Did You Know “Twitter” Is In The Bible?

26 02 2010

Good Morning readers! Today is Feature Friday! We are featuring Scott Williams and his blog Big Is The New Small. He is the Campus Pastor for the Northwest Oklahoma City Campus of LifeChurch.tv. The following is an interesting post from Feb. 23, 2010.

Every once and awhile you will run across a nugget of information that makes you go “hmm!”  That’s what happened to me not long ago when my friend @mbstockdale shared this passage of scripture with me. Insomniac, I twitter away, mournful as a sparrow in the gutter.” Psalm 102:7 Message Version If you don’t believe me look to the left at the screen shot of my YouVersion Bible App on my iPhone.

That’s what you call taking “Twitter” to a whole nutha’ level and confirms my 5 Reasons To Twitter During Church.

Did you know the word “Twitter” was in the Bible?    Feel free to share any random useful/non-useful information that you may have come across.

I hope you like today’s Feature Friday. Go check out more at Scott’s Blog. You will find very interesting blog posts there.
