First Test

Good morning readers. I see God has blessed both of us with the gift of life today. As I mentioned yesterday, I have started reading Job during my first ever quiet time. All I have to say is amazing! I wanted to share with you today my thoughts from Job 1.

Job is a man like you and I. He has a family, and a home, etc. You are probably saying to yourself,” yes I have those things, but I am not wealthy.. I don’t have servants.” Ok, well not everyone in this world is wealthy and has servants. My point is that he is just a man in God’s eyes. Those other things don’t matter.

Job is very faithful to God by praising him and giving burnt offerings on behalf of his children. One day the angels meet up with God. Satan tags along. God points Job out to Satan, telling Satan how great of a person Job is. How cool is that to have God basically  say, ” Look Satan, you haven’t got to my buddy Job yet”.

So Satan challenges God because Satan doesn’t believe that Job’s faithfulness is genuine.  God tells Satan to do what he wants with Job, but just don’t hurt him. Satan decides to take everything… EVERYTHING away from Job. His flock(and the wealth that came from it) and his family.

What does Job do when he hears the news of this?

Job 1:20-22 (The Message)

20 Job got to his feet, ripped his robe, shaved his head, then fell to the ground and worshiped:

21 Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
naked I’ll return to the womb of the earth.
God gives, God takes.
God’s name be ever blessed.

22 Not once through all this did Job sin; not once did he blame God.

As a man of God, we all need to be like Job. When times are good or bad, we need to worship God.

Until next time readers, God Bless!
