News Wednesday — Marriage and Reality TV

Hello readers. It is News Wednesday, and today we will be looking at marriage and reality tv.

As a lot of you may know by now, The Bachelor picked Vienna to be his bride. Many of you are disappointed in his decision as well.

I am not a fan of the show, and really don’t care to watch it. I don’t watch The Bachelorette either. These shows, and similar ones ,are really destroying the idea and sanctity of marriage. Several women/men vying for the love of one person, and that one person “dating” all of them at once is not how God designed the process of marriage.

In today’s society, marriage is being treated like a game, when really it shouldn’t be. Divorce isn’t looked upon as something bad anymore. In my opinion, divorce is a crutch, a cop-out, a white-out pen, etc. The marriage vows aren’t taken seriously anymore.

When two people (one man and one woman) are married, it should be forever no matter what happens.

So how as a society do we fix the divorce rate? I really don’t have that answer, but for a relationship and marriage to be healthy, God must be the center.

What are your thoughts on marriage and reality tv? How important is marriage to you and your future life?

Until next time readers, God Bless!

  1. Agree with you 110-percent! In order for a marriage to work – it must be a braid of three – two people + God; not one man and 25 women or vice versa. Divorce is awful, have been there and wouldn’t wish it on anyone! Keep up the good writing!

  2. Well I will tell the truth here. I have watched it and think it is 100 percent wrong. All of these women or men being being told the same thing. They are kissing everyone and I feel it is just giving the wrong message to our generation and younger generation. I don’t feel that we should need to court our possible spouse. Even through some people could say that God placed this person on the show and they ended up together. Well I don’t feel this is what God had intended for us to find our spouse. It gives me a slight feeling like this is Polygamy. I know this isn’t marriage and they are marring all of these women or men. I just feel that truly having this amount of women or men coming together for one person kind of reminds me of it.

  3. I definitely don’t disagree with you. I think if you trust God to show you the person he’s made for you, you don’t need to go seeking someone out the way people do on this show either. I simply watch it for entertainment. I would never myself participate in a show such as this one! I look forward to reading more on your blog 🙂
