The Christian Atheist

Good afternoon readers. It is Friday, which is always a good thing.

So, after writing the last blog post, I decided to go purchase a book. I have been thinking about this book for a week or so, to the point of even having a dream about it.

The book I have decided to start reading is The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel. The sub-title caught my eye and hasn’t let go.

“Believing in God but Living as If He Doesn’t Exist.”

Here is what the inside front cover has to say.

Are you putting your whole faith in God but living as if everything is up to you?

Craig Groeschel’s personal journey toward an authentic, God honoring life and the lessons he learned along the way are more relevant than ever. From his family and his upbringing, to the lackluster and even diametrically opposed expressions of faith he encountered, Groeschel’s frank and raw conversation about our Christian Atheist tendencies and habits is a convicting and life-changing read.

This honest, hard-hitting, and eye-opening look into the ways people believe in God but live as if he doesn’t exist is a classic in the making.

So readers, I am going to read this, maybe blog about it, etc. If it sounds like a good book to you, pick it up and we can read it together.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Taxes.. Oh How You Are Hated

Good morning readers! Today is tax day if you are in the United States. Have you got those taxes in? If not, you have till midnight to post-mark them.

Each year, the dreaded taxes come around, and each year the whining comes out as well.  Here in the USA, tax evasion costs our country millions upon millions of dollars because people choose not to pay their taxes. People loathe the accountant and tax collector. This isn’t any different then what occurred back in Jesus’s time.

But as some of you know, Jesus loved the tax collector. He made it a point to hang out with them. He even made one his disciple.

Even though a certain person is disliked in society, doesn’t mean that they should be treated a different way.

So, on this tax day, remember the commandment of the Lord our God:

“Love your neighbor as yourself

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Talent vs. Skill

Good morning readers! Today is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma City.

Today I wanted to talk about skills. What skills do you have? Do you play and instrument? Are you a good speaker? Are you good at sports?

I recently joined NorthChurch.tv‘s softball team. I used to play baseball back when I was younger and thought I would give softball a try. Let me tell you, the majority of the skills I had are there, but softball is way different than baseball. I am having to learn some different skills and it is kinda difficult.

For those who don’t know the difference between a talent and a skill, maybe this will help.

Talent is something that you are naturally good at, and a skill is something you have to work at to be good.

I guess my thought for today is I know that God gives certain talents, but does he give you the ability to learn certain skills over others?

So what do you think?

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Everyday Jesus

Good afternoon readers. I hope your day is going great!

Today, exactly one week has passed since Good Friday. It is exactly one week since the time Jesus was crucified.

Easter is a very significant holiday for Christians. It celebrates what Jesus did for us. But why can’t we celebrate that all year round?

Our lives are so busy in this fast-paced world of technology that we often put Jesus and our spiritual lives aside. For most of us, our spiritual lives are only brought out on Sundays. For some of us, it isn’t even brought out at all.

I myself struggle with connecting with my Heavenly Father on a daily basis. I guess what I am trying to say is that, for what Jesus has done for us, we shouldn’t put Him on a back burner. The thought of Jesus dying on the cross, raising from the dead, and ascending into heaven should always be floating around in our mind.

So readers, I ask you the following:

Is Jesus and His life only something you think about twice a year?

Are you living everyday to the fullest and celebrating the life that Jesus has given you in Him?

Until next time readers, God Bless!
