Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Good morning readers! I hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Today I wanted to talk about sports. I am a huge sports fan. Although I don’t enjoy every kind of sport out there, I am die-hard when it comes to baseball and college football. College football season is getting ready to start, and the baseball season is sadly winding down.

This morning I wanted to talk about the athletes that actually play the sports.

When you see athletes point towards the heavens after they hit a home run, score a touchdown, or whatever, what does that make you think? Do you assume they are just showing off and acting like a Christian, or do you think they are actually praising God?

I know I don’t know that person’s heart or story, but half the time I think they are just showing off. I like that they are trying to show praise to God. However, more people should be giving Him the praise.

If you are a Christian athlete, do you show Him the praise for what you do on the field? If not, why not?

I am just curious on what people think.

Athlete or not, we should be giving God the praise for everything, good or bad.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Making Fruit

Hello readers! Doesn’t this picture look delicious? I like several types of fruit. What kind do you like?

This post today has nothing to do with the fruit we eat. I am talking today about spiritual fruit. Now there are different types of what I think of spiritual fruit.

The first type of spiritual fruit I wanna talk about is making disciples for Christ. The Bible tells us that we are to go out into the world and multiply.

Matthew 28:19 ( American Standard)

Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Witness to people. Let them know of the love of Christ.

It is my goal to help lead as many people as I can to Jesus Christ.

The other kind of fruit I wanna talk about is, well, making babies. Several of my friends are pregnant, or just had babies. God commands us to produce fruit as well and raise them to be Godly people.

John 15:16 ( The Message)

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.

I hope this post made some sense.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

In The Closet…

Good morning readers! I hope all of you are doing well today.

Today I wanted to talk about closets. You are probably thinking to yourself.. Why?

Well I don’t really want to talk about the actual physical closet that you see pictured here. I want to talk about your spiritual/ emotional closet. Is it nice and neat like this one, or is it not so organized? Most of us would like to think we are like the organized closet, but in fact most of us are not.

The majority of us have past baggage, current issues, etc.., that haunt us everyday. We aren’t as together as we want to be. Don’t worry though. There is good news!

The good news is that we can take all those issues to a loving God, that will help us through all of the pain. He loves us no matter where we are in life, or what we have done. He will help us re-organize our closet, and make it clean again.

Questions I would like to leave you with today:

1) What does your closet look like?

2) Is Christ helping clean your closet up?

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Husbands and Wives

Hello again readers! Wow.. Two blog posts in two days. How long has it been since that happened?

Anyway.. Today I wanted to talk to you about marriage (Listen up those of you who are just in dating relationships as well). This post is similar, yet different, than the post from yesterday.

As you may or may not know, communication in a relationship is one of the most important things you need to have the relationship thrive. Without it, why be in that relationship?

Now I am no expert in the field of relationships, but I just wanted to also point out that in the field of communication, there are different languages we can speak in. For example, there is:

Words of Affirmation

Quality Time

Receiving Gifts

Acts of Service

Physical Touch

For more information go here. There are lots of resources for you to learn more. If you haven’t read the book, you really need to.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Words…

Hello readers! I have been away a while again, I know. I am sorry. I am going to start writing blog posts on Sundays and scheduling them to post throughout the week. This way, you will have some reading material awaiting you each day or so. Hopefully that is ok with you.

As some of you know, I own an iPhone. No I haven’t upgraded to the iPhone 4 yet, but I really want to. One of the most loved applications I have, and find really addicting, is Words With Friends. If you aren’t familiar with it, it is a Scrabble like game that you can play random people, or friends, all over the world. Through playing this game, I have learned some new words, and realized some words I thought were words, weren’t. Feel free to start a game with me if you have the application. My username is  OSUTom.

So I have been thinking lately. Do the words that come out of my mouth reflect Christ in me? In a world where communication is key, do I use my words wisely? Words can be used to build someone up, or knock them down. Words can have several meanings, so am I using them correctly?

The Bible states the following about words and how we should use them. It also talks about how we aren’t supposed to speak.

James 3:9-11 (The Message)

With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image.Curses and blessings out of the same mouth! My friends, this can’t go on. A spring doesn’t gush fresh water one day and brackish the next, does it?

Psalms 34:13 (The Message)

Guard your tongue from profanity, and no more lying through your teeth.

Proverbs 11:9 (The Message)

The loose tongue of the godless spreads destruction; the common sense of the godly preserves them.

There are plenty more of examples, but they are too long to list.

Questions I would like to leave you with today:

1) Are your words mirroring Christ?

2) Do you think about what you say before you say it?

Until next time readers, God Bless!
