Halloween.. Is It Ok For Christians?

Good evening readers! I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday evening. So, here in the United States, October 31st is Halloween. Kids go trick or treating, get candy, come home. Simple as that..They dress up in costumes that portray anything from tigers to hookers. Adults are doing it as well.

As a Christian I really don’t celebrate Halloween. I will dress up to participate in a work place contest, but I won’t call it a holiday. I really believe it is a holiday used to glorify the devil.

Parents don’t realize what this holiday is putting into their kids heads. They just think it is simple fun. If they really cared about their kids spiritual life, they wouldn’t let them dress so provocatively, or like demons, etc..

Why not take your child to a safe environment like a church Fall  Festival, or something like that. Shouldn’t we be nurturing good thoughts instead of bad..

This is my opinion. What is yours?

Until next time readers, God Bless!

Jesus Take The Wheel

Good evening readers. Currently I am riding shotgun while my wife and I drive to Texas to see my in-laws.

We are listening to our iPod, and I thought of the song by Carrie Underwood as we drove by a cross on the side of the rode.

For some reason, I wanted to say a little prayer for the person the cross was there for. Does that make me weird? Was God telling me to do that for some reason?

What are your thoughts about how God talks to us? Have you ever heard the audible voice of God?

Share you thoughts.

Until next time readers, God Bless!

The Bible… In Blog Format

Evening readers. I hope everyone is enjoying their evening/week so far. While my wife is away enjoying time with some friends this evening, I thought I would write about something I thought about this morning in the shower.

Lately I have kinda been having some writer’s block, but kind of not. I don’t know. I have ideas about things to write about during dreams, or on my commute, and then get home and think they are stupid. At that point I decide not to publish them, and then I end up forgetting about them.

So.. Here is my idea from today. It may be stupid, but work with me here.

What if the authors of the Bible were to have computers and the internet back when the Bible was originally written? Would they write it in the form of a book, or a blog? Would the letters in the Bible be in email format? How would have technology played into it if it were around back then?

Going with the mentioning of writer’s block, do you think that the authors had it? I know that it is said, and strongly believed by some, that every word in the Bible was put into the thoughts of the authors. Do you believe that? I sort of believe that. I kind of find it hard to believe though that someone was actually dictating every word that Jesus said.

Anyway..

Those are my thoughts for the day. Feel free and add to them. Tell me what you think.

Until next time, God Bless!

Who Needs Superheros?

Good evening readers! I have wanting to write the following post for about a week now, but never really have thought it was that great to post. So if you get confused about what I am trying to say, it isn’t you.

The title of this post basically says it all. Over the past several years, well even decades, superhero movies and even the idea of superheros have been really popular in the media. From Batman to Spiderman, most are loved by all. Why is that?

Is is because we as a human race long for good to fight evil and prevail? Is it that fairytale feeling of the hero rescuing the maiden in distress? WHAT?

If you really think about it, Jesus was a superhero in his own right. He was a great humanitarian; a healer; a person of knowledge, etc.. I could go on and on. The evil in the world made him an outcast, but people still followed him.

What sparked this post was the song by Abandon called Hero. If you aren’t familiar with the song, below are the lyrics to the song. Click here to listen to the song. This describes Jesus so well.

The question I want to ask of you this evening is..

Is Jesus your superhero?

Hero — by Abandon

He walked the dirty streets. Famous for nothing.
He said “come follow me” and they came.
A face like all the rest.
But something was different.
The Son of God would lead the way.
And soon they all would say.

There He goes – a hero. A savior to the world.
Here He stands with scars in His hands.
With love He gave His life so we could be free.
The Savior of the world.

He spoke with clarity. Walked across the sea.
A single word would calm the storm.
His touch could heal the sick, but He was called a hypocrite.
Laid behind the stone. His death was shortly mourned. He left the curtain torn.

There He goes – a hero. A savior to the world.
Here He stands with scars in His hands.
With love he gave His life so we could be free.
The Savior of the world.

He chose to take the cross. Shed tears for the lost, the broken, and the needy.
Forgiving those who were and will be.
The angel made it clear. He told them have no fear.
He’s not here. He’s not here!

There He goes – The Hero. The Savior to the world.
Here He stands with scars in His hands.
With love He gave his life so we could be free.
The Savior of the world. The Savior of the world. The Savior of the world.

Time… Is It Really On Our Side?

Hello again readers! It is Sunday, and I hope you have had a great week.

Today at my church, my friend, and fellow Christian, Brian Cromer preached on the message of generosity. He mentioned that we as Christians need to be generous.

Just as he mentioned, being generous doesn’t always mean with our money. Money is a great thing to be generous with though. We just need to be generous with more.

God has blessed us in so many ways. Each and everyone one of us have some sort of talent/gift that God has given. If you know about your talent/gift, how are you using it? Are you using it to serve God and His people?

People often think that we have a ton of time to do something great with life, but in reality we don’t. Life is just a breath of air; a speck of sand.

Brian really struck a chord with me today when he mentioned some statistics.

The average adult works 7 1/2 hours a day, sleeps 7 1/2 hours, is in the bathroom 1 hour a day, and watches 3 hours of tv a night.

The average teenager spends 72 hours a week in media, but only 25 minutes in genuine conversation with their parents.

Isn’t that scary?

All I have to ask you today is:

Are you using your time wisely?

Until next time readers, God Bless!
